September
6th September: Alastaro Circuit

Great Weather, Great Success and GREAT FUN !!!

On Saturday 6th of September the team had this season's last race. The Competition situation was very interesting, Antero had potential to be in the top 3 and Merja was after the 3 first races in her "rookie season" 7th out of 16.

In Friday afternoon practises Antero found some problems in the gearbox and was not sure if he could even participate in the Final Race. The team and some fellow Co-Drivers (Thank You Jarmo & Veikko) made their best to repair ,what could be done in so short notice and (NON) exsisting spareparts.

The atmosphere was not that great in the Sunny Saturday morning. Antero minimised his driving in the morning practising and Qualification to save the gearbox. The Results from Qualification were though very good: Antero 6th (Best lap 1:34.184) and Merja 8th (Best lap 1:35.616).

The Race started very tight, the top 9 cars driving in one bunch the first 2 laps. In the "Las Palmas" curve, Merja was forced to brake and it caused a spin. All cars passed her, but she started to race like a "devil" to catch up the gap !! And so She did indeed, she finished 6th with her record laptime (1:34.520 being 6,5 sec faster than her last year's first race here in Alastaro) and Antero made a Great Job being SECOND (1:34.203), having "real racing" with Kim, Seved, Jarmo and Veikko.

The Final Season results are: Antero is Second and Merja 6th out of 16 cars.

The Emerentsia Team wants to thank You All: Friends, Sponsors (Valvoline, Karjala, Patrol), MTV3 Motorforum, HRF r.y, Co-Driver's From Finland and Sweden, The Niemiset( Seppo,Hannu,Jari) and Voti. You have made our season a success and also Great Driving with FUN.

Let's Continue the same way next Season.

August
16th-17th August: Hämeenlinna, Ahvenisto

Already traditional Historic Grand Race took place 16th and 17th August at the Ahvenisto circuit in the city of Hämeenlinna. Over ten race heats, free practices and qualifications ensured an eventful motor racing weekend.

This event has continued its growth year by year and in addition to 17 Finnish Formula drivers, there were also 6 Swedish to challenge Finns on their demanding home circuit.
Altogether spectators could see more than 150 cars competing in different series.

As a show race more than 30 old racing motorbikes were driving around the circuit. Just incredible scenery !!

This was Merja's first race in this year 1967 founded circuit and everything went really well. The national tv-station MTV3 made a report about the team and it's motivation to race. The film was showed on TV on Sunday evening 17th of August.

June
6th-8th June: Virtasalmi, Motopark

The racing weekend started with Friday practising in heavy raining weather. This was the first time the team was driving in this circuit, so it was even more interesting to drive on the slippery racetrack.

Qualifications on Saturday went well, the difference between Merja and Antero was only 0,7 seconds after the first practises...it was getting really exciting race ! The final qualification though showed, that Antero is still the leader in the team, but for how long...??

Sunday morning started sunny and Finnish nature showed it's best faces. The team (especially Merja and Seppo) prepared new strategies before the race, in order to be on the top.

The race was just GREAT FUN ! Antero finished 4th and Merja 6th. No technical nor other problems occured, we just enjoyed the race. Thank's for HRF for the arrangements, Seppo Nieminen for his efforts as the Team Chief and the Good Spirit of all our fellow Competitor's to make all this happen!

Year 2002

September
14th September: A Historic Race club race at Alastaro

This was Merja's debut race with a Historic Formula. The free practise at Saturday went pretty well from both. The weather was dry and Antero tested new adjustments, being all the time more and more pleased with the car's performance. The qualifying run went well for both, too. Both drivers' managed to improve from their morning times; for Merja 1.44 at morning to 1.41 at the qualifying, and even a second better at the actual race.

The Final was a total celebration for both Merja and Antero. He raced battled with the swede Seved Lundmark for position 5 while she was waging a war with Jyrki Laine for position 7. And they both won their challengers. The whole weekend was very rewarding for the team. Next up is being ready to rumble for the 2003 season and its races, so that we could be even more competitive. Our thanks to the pit team Seppo, Mikko and Tapani for their support and encouragement!

August
17th - 18th August: Historic Grand Race Ahvenisto

This was Antero's debut race with a Historic Formula. The fan belt broke down on Saturday which caused a bit of trouble at the pit just before the qualifying run.

The qualifying went well, but because of the engine getting too hot Antero had to quit his run before the end. He still managed to get the 11th position (there were 16 participants in the race).

The race at Sunday went fine and Antero finished tenth. The winner was Jari Nieminen with a car number 22 (which happens to be the same car Merja will run her debut race in Alastoro!).
